In 1945, Dr. Fritz Sennheiser together with seven engineers and technicians set out on the venture to found a new company. The research and development specialists converted their university institute, which had been moved during the war to the small village of Wennebostel, into what became known as 'Labor W', and it was there that they began to build measuring instruments. Less than a year later, microphones were added to their product range, and soon the resourceful team became extremely successful in numerous fields of audio technology. Those were the humble beginnings of Sennheiser electronic, now a worldwide group of companies with more than 1,600 employees and one of the world's leading manufacturers of complete audio solutions. Still a family-owned company, Sennheiser has made a name for itself above all in the development and manufacture of high-quality microphones, wireless RF technology and headphones. Conference and information technology, infrared systems, products for the hearing impaired and aviation headsets round off the comprehensive product portfolio. 4 out of 5 stars Good Headphones for the $$$, Strong bass   September 6, 2010
AMojica (Texas, USA)
These headphones were very cheap (around $25) and I think they are a great value! The sound has a little too much bass for my liking; I love my Sennheiser HD 497's which unfortunately you can't find anymore. Anyway, the HD 202's have good crisp highs and solid mids to try and balance out the heavy bass. You will be able to hear details in your music that you may have never heard before! If you love strong but balanced bass then these are what you are looking for! Some people may think it has too much bass and may get mild headaches from the thumping.

The imaging (i.e. the 3D spatial sound) on these headphones is okay. The HD 203's have better imaging but I still prefer the HD 202's. Why? Well the 203's lack the crispness and clarity that the 202's have; this makes the 203's sound a bit muffled when compared to the 202's. Clarity is very important to me! Therefore the 202's sound more balanced than the 203's. So I definitely recommend the HD 202's over the 203's and they are cheaper!! And I bought both of these models at the same time to compare. I gave the 202's as a gift to my brother (he thinks they are the most amazing headphones ever!) and the 203's I sold.

Some people complain about the comfort as they can be a little tight in the beggining but they will loosen up as you break them in. You can also carefully remove the ear pads and then carefully stretch them out with a stack of books in between the ear speakers; you don't want to break the headband so use some common sense! Why remove the ear pads (and they are removable by the way; they just snap off)? Because if you don't remove the pads they will lose their cushioned feel as they are smashed against the books to stretch the headband!

Hope this review was helpful. Enjoy the HD 202's great value! I will review the HD 555's soon.

3 out of 5 stars Very good sound, but can be uncomfortable if not corrected   September 6, 2010

I bought these headphones for my brother and after trying them out I went ahead and forced the headphones to cause less pressure on my head because they are very tight. I don't consider my head to be big and my brother's definitely isn't, yet both he and I have experienced discomfort from these headphones.

That said, they have better sound than more expensive headphones that I have, even it's bigger brother from Sennheiser. Stronger base yet clear treble, these headphones sound great. Just don't expect comfort and you won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Works great for what i needed   September 5, 2010

I needed a headset for work that would not hurt my ears after 8hr's of use and these do the trick with good sound quality. I wish the base was better but I cannot complain for what I paid for it.

4 out of 5 stars For the price, nothing better   September 2, 2010

I've paid twice as much on other headphones with half the sound quality. I gave it a 4 star rating overall because of one thing - they're a bit tight. I used to use them at work, but after wearing them for an hour your ears go numb. they don't fit around your ears, but rather push right on them. But, like I said, for enjoying music, nothing compares for this price.

5 out of 5 stars Great sound, great price   September 1, 2010

I just got these today and they sound great. I can hear the bass and treble both equally well. However, I do not have a very experienced ear, so I do not know how these headphones stack up against others. I can't yet say how rugged they are, but so far they seem solid.
